14th July 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was lovely to see so many of you at our Sports days this week. We were lucky with the weather despite the forecast. Thank you to Mr Pahal and Mr Alleyne for organising the event, so many of you commented on what a great Sports day experience it was.

It was really great to hear parents using the language of our STOKE values and learning qualities encouraging children to persevere, challenge themselves, focus and celebrate whilst being kind and empathetic towards others!!

Thank you to parents, carers and children for adhering to our safety arrangements to enable the exciting building works to take place across school. You may have seen over the sports days that we have had new windows fitted this week making the school look much brighter and fresher and we are really pleased with the latest piece of artwork added to the corridor by the library.

The last day at school for all children is Friday 21st July. Children are to return to school to their new year groups, from Monday 4th September 2023.

Over the next week, we have various events and activities taking place to celebrate our children and their achievements…

Year 6 - Reward Day – Monday 17th July

We have arranged for some inflatables to be set up on the school field including a penalty shoot-out, mega slide, gladiator battle and also some sumo suits. We are inviting children to bring their own water pistols into school for this day as we will be arranging a water fight for those who wish to participate. There will also be a slip and slide so children can wear clothes that they are happy to get wet. (Please bring spare clothes to change into after).

There will also be an ice cream van visiting school so if you would like your child to have an ice cream on this afternoon, please send them with some money to purchase this.

Nursery & Reception Sports Day – Tuesday 18th July from 9:30am – 11am

Nursery and Reception sports day will take place on Tuesday 18th July from 9:30am – 11am. There will be cakes and celebrations for Early Years.

Fiver Challenge Sale – Wednesday 19th July 2:30pm onwards

We are proud of our year 6 children who are currently taking part in the Fiver Challenge where they are purchasing items that they need to make their own products to sell. The profits from sales are then being put towards the reward day that is taking place on Monday 17th July.  All year groups are invited to collect their child on Wednesday at 2:30pm to support the sale, but children need to remain in school and on site until 3:30pm as normal.

100% Attendance Reward – Wednesday 19th July - Walking with Alpacas

Children who achieved 100% attendance for the year, will be going on an exciting trip to walk with Alpacas. Thank you for working with us to ensure your children are in school each day and on time, this really helps them feel settled and be able to achieve their best.

Summer Fayre – Thursday 20th July 1:30pm onwards

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Summer Faye next Thursday!  Please come and collect your children at 1.30 and enjoy the fayre together. If you have anything to donate, please bring this to the school office. Thank you to those who brought in a bottle for the tombola as part of non-uniform day today.

RED Award – Thursday 20th July – Surprise incoming!!

Children who have read consistently throughout the year will receive a special treat on Thursday. Well done to those children and thank you to parents and carers who have supported them with their reading across the year.

Year 6 Leavers Assembly – Friday 21st July at 10am

Please join us for a short assembly to say goodbye and good luck to our year 6 leavers who will be talking about some of their favourite memories at Stoke Primary School and what they are looking forward to at secondary school, and in their future.

If your year 6 child would like other children to write goodbye messages on their school shirt, please can they bring the shirt/polo with them as it’s easier to write on when they aren’t physically wearing it.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We wish you all a relaxing and restful summer break.

Kind regards
