Year 5

Good Morning,

We have spoken to the head of centre at Plas Dol-Y-Moch and we are hopeful that the Year 5 children will be able to go on the residential from the 30th September to 4th October. In order to get numbers we are checking interest with all parents.

The cost of the trip is £170 (£80 for Pupil Premium children) and we are asking for a £50 deposit (£30 for Pupil Premium children) to secure the place. This includes meals, accommodation and all of the activities that the children will participate in. We are asking for deposits to be paid as soon as possible and then the balance can be paid in installments. I can provide you with a paypoint voucher to collect from school or arrange payment through the online payment system.

Myself and a number of staff from school will be taking the children and we hope to use this as a way to get to know your child at the start of their time in Year 6. We are an experienced staff who have been to the centre a number of times. We have taken children with all sorts of medical and SEND needs and are used to supporting individuals with their own needs as well as administering a range of medication. Please do not let concerns about this stop your child from attending the trip as we will work with you to overcome any concerns you have.

Please email me at transition@stoke.coventry.sch.uk if you have any questions or to let me know that you would like a place for your child.

More information about the centre can be found at

Thank you

Mrs Noone

Hi Year 5,

We hope you have been enjoying the sun over the last week. This week will be the start of a phased return for some year groups and we really hope we will be able to see you all again soon. In the sections below you will find lessons to have a go at for Summer 2. We would also still like you to login to purple mash and complete tasks that have been set on there and we both love seeing your work. This is a great time to work on your imaginative writing and improve that joined handwriting so you could also have a go at the super sentence stacker lessons on youtube.

You are still able to listen to audiobooks on audible for free at the moment if parents sign up for a trial and this will be a great if you could listen to books being read and be on the lookout for some great words.

There is a weekly quiz again this week on kahoot for you to have a go at. The pin for this is 02585856 and I really hope to see as many of your names taking part as possible.

Speak Soon

Mr Morrow and Miss Younis

Hi Year 5,

Where has the sun gone again ? Hopefully it will return soon as everything always seems to be easier when the sun is out. We have both loved to see so many children being active through purple mash and have enjoyed speaking to some children through 2email and we would love to hear from everyone. We have added more activities to our home learning pages and the videos are fantastic. Mr Morrow has been busy watching videos on the training space website talking about writing and there are daily writing lessons called 'Super Sentence Stacking' posted on there that are fantastic.

There are lots of activities and ideas other than maths and English on our class page and, as our topic in school now would have been Ancient Greece, there is a home learning sheet with Greek activities to have a go at. We would love to see any activities you are doing at home through photographs on our facebook page or through 2email on purple mash.

There is now also a weekly kahoot quiz to have a go at and the pin for this weeks quiz is 06661073 all you need to do is go onto the kahoot website, type the pin in and have a go.

We know some of you love competition as well so there is a now a virtual sports competition against all other children in Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire. This week is an athletics competition. It would be great if you could all give it a go the link is in the PE section of our website which is found under the children heading. There are prizes !!

Speak soon everyone and stay safe.
