Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy Christmas

What a term it has been, a long one but a great one.  Over the last weeks there has been so much going on in school culminating in some Christmas festivities.

Highlights for me this term have been seeing Year 6 perform Shakespeare at the Belgrade and seeing the parents’ pride in their children.  Alongside this we have seen a transformation in our children’s attitudes to reading. We have SQUIRT time every day, the library is full of great books, all our children visited Stoke Library and seeing the energy for weekly reading has been great to see.

As the term ends we are saying good bye to Mrs Lapworth our Early Years lead and Nursery teacher.  Over the past three years she has helped us develop and grow both our Nursery and Reception classes and led on the change in approach to phonics.  We wish her well as she seeks new challenges.  Mrs Hampton who has been teaching in Nursery will continue to do so until our new Early Years lead teacher starts at Easter.

We are also saying good luck to Miss Joyce who will be starting her maternity leave next term.  As soon as we have news of her baby we will let you know.  Miss Mullis will be taking over in Woodpecker Class when we return in January.  She has already spent time in school getting to know the children and the Year 1 team.

Over the past two weeks we have had a number of Christmas festivities.  Seeing the faces of children as they waited to see Santa in the Grotto and managing to get the whole school together for our Christmas meal have been two magical moments topped off by the Winter Wonderland yesterday.  Thank you all for your support and we hope your children have enjoyed all the different opportunities.

We look forward to seeing all he children back to school on Monday 8th January 2024.  We have Emilie Lauren Jones Coventry Poetry Laureate joining us in the first week back.   We can’t wait.

Have great holiday.
