22nd October 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a term it has been.  We have seen some amazing topics being taught across school with all of our children so excited by their learning.  Teachers have carefully planned to make sure we are supporting your children by closing any gaps from missed time in school, alongside inspiring them to be the best that they can be.

The energy in school has been fantastic with children talking about their learning and growing in confidence as they respond to feedback.  We have also been talking regularly about widening our curiosity of the world around us.

Parent Meetings

I hope you have all had a chance to discuss your child with their teacher through the parent meetings.  This is an important opportunity to understand the achievements so far but to also learn about next step challenges for your child so that you can support them with their learning.

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

We are currently planning for our Macmillan Coffee Afternoon on 5th November.  Please put the afternoon in your diary.  We will share details as soon as we are back after half term but as well as cake and coffee it will be an opportunity to join your children and see what we have been learning about across school.  As with Harvest we are working closely with Covid information to make sure it is as safe as possible.

Staffing

We have written to Badger class today to inform them that Mrs Brown is leaving the Stoke team today.  She has been an important part of Stoke supporting our youngest children in their start to their education and this year ventured up to work with our oldest children.  We all wish her well in her future.

Food Vouchers

Those families in school that are entitled to a food voucher through the Covid Government scheme should have received an email with the voucher attached.  Please check your inbox and junk if you have not received it.

Squid Game

Many of you may have heard of a programme on Netflix called Squid Game.  We are aware that children in school are talking about it.  This programme is not suitable for young children and has an 18 age guide.  We all have a responsibility to support our children in good choices and where they have access to technology monitor what they are watching.

Please can you be aware of this programme and if your children are watching it or talking about it at home, please support your children to more suitable television choices.

We hope you all have a good half term break.  Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours Sincerely

Mathew Ascroft
