Dear Parents

Time is flying along and all the children and staff at Stoke have been very busy working hard in core lessons and their wider topics.  Whilst we have the detail of our Covid systems, they haven’t stopped the creativity and energy in each of our bubbles.

It is a few weeks ago that we held our Anti Bullying Week.  Thank you to all our children for their posters.  The winning children from each bubble will be getting their Amazon voucher prizes next week.

Overall we are pleased with the Parent Consultations.  Many of you successfully connected with class teachers using Microsoft Teams.  We hope you found the time to discuss your children useful and informative.  It is very likely we will be doing more meetings this way so please make sure you are confident using the technology.

As many of you know we have had our Year 6 isolating this week.  The staff team have been leading learning with the children enjoying 3 lessons each morning through Zoom and then completing a topic project in the afternoons.  Well done to all our children as they have adapted to this new learning system.

The situation with Year 6 tested the risk assessment we have in place and we are pleased that all the core systems worked well and maintained safety for our pupils and staff.  We are not complacent and continually review all our systems.

All of our classes stopped last week for Remembrance. Our Year 6’s used their lanterns for a very atmospheric 2 minutes silence.  We have also been sharing the celebration of Diwali.

We are now planning ahead with Christmas coming.  We will be writing to you soon to share the celebrations we will be able to have so that our children have chance to enjoy the festive period in a Covid safe way.

I am out on the gate every morning and am pleased with the way we are all respecting each other as children are dropped off.  Please always remember to wear a mask.  We have had a couple of parking incidents with dangerous parking.  Please remember we are using all the gate entrances to bring children in safely and so be careful when driving on Briton Road.

As we have had some damp and cold weather this week, please make sure your children come with a coat every day.

Thank you for your support for Stoke as we have all come together to make learning our priority and been able to deliver an education as safely as possible with the challenges of Covid.

Dates for the diary

• Monday 4^th January - School will be closed on for Teacher Training
• Tuesday 5^th January - Children return for the Spring Term.
