Dear Parents and Carers,

House day! World sight day.

The whole school took part in an amazing afternoon yesterday to raise awareness of sight. Children took part in activities such as braille, blind folded taste tests, obstacle courses using  one eye only and question and answer sessions with a visitor who is blind. There was of course huge excitement over our visiting guide dog! We also had a visit from Dilesh Makwana from ‘Eye Site’ (near Greggs): please do pop in for a free eyesight test. Thank you to all staff for the enormous effort and enthusiasm they put in – the children loved it!

We have two weeks left of this half term and in school we are driving a sense of pride. Please do the same at home by encouraging your children to care about their presentation, how they look after resources and how they present to others.

As the weather is set to change, please ensure your child has a coat in school. If it is drizzling, we do encourage children to get some much-needed fresh air at break and lunchtimes so coats are important to have in school.

We do still have a selection of clothing so please ask if you need clothes for home.

We also have plenty of previously used uniform available for a voluntary small donation. Please come to school at 3pm on Thursdays if you would like to see if there is anything useful to you.

We break up for half term on Friday 27th October and return on Tuesday 7th November.

Staff have a training day on Monday 6th November. School is closed to children this day.

Thank you for your ongoing support, have a safe weekend.

Kind regards

Lucy Pater
