What a week! This week has been all about reading - talking about books, writing about our favourite books, listening to some of our favourite stories, book themed lunches (with prizes!) dressing up as our favourite book characters and encouraging each other to read.
Paired Reading
The children were mixed together to share their ideas and thoughts about books. We did this every day and it was fabulous to see the confidence grow in the children as they discussed books.
Golden Ticket!
As part of our World Book Day lunch, the sneaky catering team placed Golden Tickets under some of puddings. The winners were SO excited and received a prize (a book of course! It is World Book Day!) Here are some photographs of our very excited winners!
Teacher Reader
On Thursday afternoon, each teacher chose a book to read and the children decided which book they would like to listen to. There was a great mix of children in all areas of the school. The children were great at predicting what the book might be about and could talk about the characters and settings. The children loved to support and help each other. Gangster Granny reading Percy Jackson was my favourite!
WORLD BOOK DAY
Thursday 2nd March was World Book Day. The children were invited to dress up as their favourite book character, or just come in non-uniform with their book if they preferred. I was stunned and overwhelmed with the amount of thought and preparation that had gone into peoples costumes (Staff included!)
If today has inspired your child to read a book, then wearing an itchy wig all day has been worth it.
Don't forget to pop along to your local Waterstones, WHSmith, (most) Supermarkets, The Works with your voucher to claim your free book.
