Dear Parents and Carers,

We have started this half term with our new learning quality ‘explore’. The focus for exploration this week has been finding out about what we throw away and thinking about ways we can live in a more sustainable way, looking after our environment as best we can.

In all classes, children have been exploring new topics. Year 1 have been weather watchers; a great week for it with the torrential rain we had yesterday! Year 3 enjoyed their Roman day yesterday – we saw some fabulous costumes, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with our living Roman visitor! Reception have been fixing vehicles as they have explored the members of our community who can help us in different situations. Next week, they are setting up a hospital in their classroom. I may have to get bandaged up at some point! In Key Stage 2, we have seen some great exploration of different mathematical operations; a lot of thinking going on!

Katie, the artist, is back in school; we love watching her work progress! This time she has produced a wonderful timeline in the hall. It is already provoking a lot of curiosity and discussion.

Our weekly therapy dog visit was yet again awesome. Dotty is now a well-established member of the Stoke community!

The Year 6 barn is now complete; this is a great space for our year 6 children to reflect, chat, wonder and ‘just be’ during lunch and break times. We are grateful to Orbit for building this for us.

Next week, Year 4 are going to forest school on Wednesday. They will be Anglo Saxons for the day making shelters and cooking food. (Year 4 can wear suitable own outdoor clothes for this day.)

Please do drive with care around school; our children and parents should always feel safe.

If you have any questions, please pop into the school office or email to request a time to meet. We will always do our best to support you.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Have a happy and safe weekend.

Kind regards
