Dear Parents and Carers,

What a term it has been.  There has been so much going on across school, from trips, to new topics, the reintroduction of after school clubs and this week we have had a visit from Father Christmas who spent time with our younger children and visited all of the classrooms to bring an early present for all of the children.

Most importantly it has been a safe term with the whole community working with us to best mange the Covid situation.  Whilst we have had some children fall ill, we have been able to work closely with families to ensure good levels of communication and maintain safety in school.

A huge part of this term has been celebrating our children who have been nominated for the House Star of the Week.  During Monday assembly we share the reasons why children have stood out.  It has been a real chance for our children to learn from each other and share in the amazing attitude, focus and resilience of our children as they all try to be the very best they can be.

Over the last term, all our children have been working hard.  Staff have been making sure any gaps in learning are being supported so that every child gets the best education.  Alongside this we have been developing our approach to curriculum to ensure that we are getting the children really involved in their learning.

We have been really pleased that some classes have been able to go on trips to support their learning.  This has enabled classes to go to museums in town, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and subject competitions with other schools.  Please go to the Gallery page in the website for photos of the different activities children have been up to.  To support further, we have recently purchased a replacement minibus, following the theft of our old one.  This will be vital in getting our children out and about whether that be small trips locally or to sporting events.

Over the last weeks we have been pleased that our girls and boys football teams have won matches against local schools and our netball team have also enjoyed competing.  Well done to all our teams.

Staff have been developing the information on the website.  All topic plans will be accessible via the class pages.  This will support you with information about what your child is learning in school.  You are also able to find out more about our approach to the curriculum.

We have written to the Badger Class this week to introduce them all to Mrs Elward.  Mrs Elward is joining the Stoke team next term to support year 5 whilst Mrs Laws goes on maternity leave.  We all wish Mrs Laws well as she welcomes her second child into her family.

We hope that you all have a good Christmas holiday and that all our children return safely in the new year for more learning adventures.
