Stoke Primary School Safeguarding Statement

The wellbeing of all our children is of paramount importance to all the adults who work in our school. Our children have the right to protection to be safe and feel safe in our school and out of school. Working together with parents is crucial and there may be times whereby school needs to approach parents to discuss disclosures or physical marks on children, this is not judgemental but supportive of the child and is a way of securing accurate information.

In the interest of safeguarding children there may be other occasions when the school has to consult other agencies without a parent’s prior knowledge. The school’s first concern is the child’s welfare and the school has a duty to act to protect the child at all times. Such consultation may result in a formal referral which could prompt visits from social services and/or the police.

We fully understand that this can be a very distressing set of circumstances, but we follow the procedures laid down by the Coventry Safeguarding Board.
