Year 4

Hare and Hedgehog Classes

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce the wonderful year 4 team. I am Mrs Maguire and I will be the class teacher in ‘Hare’ class. We are really excited to welcome a new teacher for Hedgehog class. The two Learning support assistants are Miss Bredin and Mr Hammond. We are very excited for the year ahead and the journey we are going to be going on together.

So far this week the children have been amazing, and we have all learnt lots about each other. During this transition time we have been focussing on setting the expectations for the coming year and finding out what we are going to be learning about in year 4. The children have worked together to think of class rules and how we can follow them, as well as thinking about their hopes and dreams for the future. The first two weeks in September will see us carry on with our transition work and then we launch into our first immersive topic ‘Our Local Area’.

In September the children will need to bring a named water bottle with them to school filled with water. In year 4 the children come to school dressed in their PE kit on P.E. days. This consists of blue or black shorts, dark coloured jogging bottoms or leggings, their team-coloured t-shirt, and a change of shoes (pumps or trainers). The P.E. days will be confirmed early in September. Please make sure that all their uniform including their P.E. kit is named. Lastly, as space is tight in the cloakroom, please ensure that their book bag is one that can fit in their tray, not a big rucksack for their peg.

It has been lovely seeing the year groups enthusiasm for learning this week. If you are struggling for things to do over the summer, then the local library is a great source of information as to what is happening in Coventry. Also, the library is excellent for encouraging reading as children can borrow books for up to 4 weeks.

Please remember to come and speak to any member of the year 4 team if you have any questions or queries. We look forward to working with you over the coming year.
