We have now completed the second full week with the new school systems for home learning and would like to thank you and your children for supporting the changes and engaging with the home learning.
As you are aware, each day we are providing teaching videos and tasks for Reading, Writing and Maths which are being accessed through the school website. In addition to this the children are able to choose one Curriculum task to complete each day. Where possible these offer different levels of challenge for the children to choose from based on how confident they are with the learning.
During the week all children are having a 1:1 zoom session for reading with Miss Joyce or Miss Ashford and many children are also having additional sessions to support with their learning in other areas. These have been really successful and are a great way for us to provide some 1:1 time for your child.
The daily zoom sessions are there for children to join if they need help with any of their learning and also a chance for them to connect with their peers. These are not compulsory but there for the children to access as and when they want.
We understand that some parents are still working through lockdown, but please encourage your child to do the work and make time for this in your routine, as it is important children do not miss out on key aspects of their learning. We hope that the short videos are manageable to work through and that they year 6 children are able to access this with little support.
We are looking forward to another great week of learning online and will enjoy receiving your children’s work – they can send these on Purple Mash as attachments themselves or you can send them to the Year6-homeschooling@Stoke.coventry.sch.uk email address. This is also a way to get in touch with us if there is anything you need help with. It is so lovely to choose home learning ‘Stars of the Week’ from this and our first two weeks of certificates have been sent out already.
We hope that you are keeping safe and look forward to seeing the children back in school soon.
