To the new 5CM,

The last few months have been a very unusual time for everyone and I hope that you and your family and friends are keeping safe and well.

I am so pleased and excited that you will be in my class in September! We are going to have a lot of fun and learn lots of new and exciting things together. As we weren’t able to meet as a new class in school before the end of the summer term, this letter is to welcome you to Year 5 and to tell you a little bit about myself. As a pupil in Year 5, you will be seen by other children as a role model around school, therefore it is very important that you make the right behaviour choices and use lovely manners all of the time 😊.

We will be starting the school year with an exciting whole school topic and hopefully some outdoor learning; being creative will definitely be part of Year 5 and I am very much looking forward to joining you on your learning journey. I like to have lots of fun during lessons and love to have lots of laughter in my classroom to go along with the lots of hard work. In my classroom, I like us to be part of a team and work together and my favourite saying is, “Teamwork makes the dream work,” you will hear me say it quite a few times! To complete our team, we have the amazing Miss Dawson who will be the learning support assistant for our class.

Now for a little bit about me. As most of you already know, I love being active and love all sports but particularly football and golf. I have been teaching at Stoke Primary now for six years and this will be my second year teaching year 5 after spending four years teaching year 6. I love reading during my spare time and have recently read two lovely books called ‘Rooftoppers’ and ‘Orphans of the Tide’. I can’t wait to share these books with you and I really hope that we can develop a love of reading together.

There may be questions which you have about Year 5: if you click on the following link, you can ask your questions by writing them on the Padlet (scan this QR code to get to the padlet). Once you have added a question, I will try to answer it; please remember to read other children’s questions before writing yours in case your question has already been answered!

Finally, I wish you and your family a happy, healthy and restful summer holiday and I look forward to seeing you back at Stoke Primary School in September for an exciting year in school.

Take care,

Mr Morrow and Miss Dawson
