Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! It has been a busy start in Reception, we want to say a big ‘Well done’ to the children for completing their first full week in Reception. All the children have settled in well and are getting used to the new routines, all the staff are very proud of how well they have done.    Our new topic is ‘Dinosaur Kingdom’, this is the topic that the children showed a lot of interest in during transition week. We hope the children will share what they have been learning with you over the next few weeks. Before the summer holiday, we asked if you and your child would like to work together to create a dinosaur artefact. If your child has made an artefact at home, please bring it in we would love to put it in our Dinosaur Museum. Over the coming weeks, your child will have the opportunity to make a dinosaur artefact at school if they are unable to make one at home.

PE  This term our PE day is flexible. Please bring PE kits into school as soon as possible, the PE kit will stay in school for the half term as our PE day may take place on different days each week. Your child will need to have their house-coloured T shirt, a pair of shorts, tracksuit bottoms / leggings (for colder days) and pumps. Please make sure that all PE items are named.

Tapestry  All children have now been set up with a Tapestry account to record learning experiences at school and at home.  Further guidance on how to set up the app on your device will be coming out shortly and you will receive a link via email which you need to follow to link the app with your child.  Please check your spam/junk mailbox also if you have not received it by Friday.

Rules and Routines  Over the next couple of weeks, we have a strong focus on establishing class expectations for behaviour and learning with a strong emphasis on praise and rewarding good choices.  The children will be learning about the values in this poster which is displayed around the classroom.  When children show a good example, they are rewarded, and success shared with the class.

Please remember to come and speak to any member of the reception team if you have any questions or queries, there will always be one of us on the gate in the morning and afternoon. We look forward to working with you over the coming year.

Yours Sincerely , The Reception Team

Miss Hughes and Miss Collins  Mrs Sargent and Miss Rigley
