Year 2 had the pleasure of meeting a real life Antarctic explorer. Al Sylvester told us all about how he became an explorer after 31 years in the RAF and detailed his journey to the South Pole. We learnt about the year of planning it took Al Sylvester to get together a strong trust worthy team for his most challenging expedition yet. Al Sylvester helped us to understand the reality of the deadly temperatures and challenges he faced on his journey. He then showed us some of the equipment he used on his expedition and we even got to try some on. We were so amazed by his bravery and were inspired to take on new challenges. What an amazing experience!
