Dear Parents and Carers,
We are now back and routines are hopefully working for you.
When I am on gate duty, I am seeing too many cars just stop in the middle of the road to let people out or pick people up. This is very dangerous as we then get cars trying to pass and they cannot clearly see the road ahead, putting children at risk.
I understand that parking can be difficult. We know however, that 85% of our children live within a 10 minute walk from school. We also know that a few minutes of fresh air gives children a really good start to the day. As a school we are keen to encourage children to travel to school without the need for cars. This will help us make the road outside safer for everyone.
During last year we started to see nursery children come to school on balance bikes and older children choosing to use scooters or bikes. I am working with Mr Stevenson to increase our ability to store balance bikes, scooters and bikes so that our children have more choices when coming to school. If your child comes to school using any of these please let you child bring them into school where they can be stored safely during the day ready for home time.
f your children safer for everyone. Please consider leaving the car at home whenever you can.
