Thursday 5th November 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Reception Phonics Meeting

As you may be aware, from Reception onwards children are learning to read using phonics as their main strategy.  We understand that as a parent you will want to support your child’s learning at home but that this may be something unfamiliar.

With this in mind, we would like to invite Reception parents to a phonics information meeting on Thursday 12th November, 9.30-10.00am. The session will include a brief introduction to phonics,  show you some of the type of phonics activities that children do in school, as well as some ideas of what you could try at home.

Due to the current restrictions for coming into school, this meeting will be held virtually on Zoom, meaning that you will stay at home and join using your computer, tablet or phone.

The link to join the meeting is below-

  • All parents will arrive in the virtual waiting room after following the link and Mrs Haines will admit everybody at 9.30am.  Please log in a few minutes before the meeting is due to start, as anybody who arrives after the meeting has stated will not be able to be admitted
  • Please rename/ name yourself as your child’s first name and surname initial so that you can be identified before being admitted e.g. Samantha C.
  • All parents will have the sound muted once the meeting has started until the question and answer part of the meeting at the end, this means that once muted, you will be able to hear Mrs Haines but will not be able to be heard by others.

The school office have sent out an accompanying text about attendance of the meeting, please reply with ‘will attend’ or ‘can’t attend’ so that we know who we will be waiting for.

Yours Sincerely
