17th January 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a fantastic week it’s been here at Stoke Primary! It’s been another busy, action-packed few days full of learning, excitement, and inspiring experiences for our children. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:

Year 1 & Year 2: Animal Experience Day

Year 1 and Year 2 had a wonderful day with some very special visitors—real animals! As part of their learning about life cycles, habitats, and the animal kingdom, the children got to see and touch various animals. It was such an exciting and hands-on experience, bringing the classroom learning to life in a way that only animals can.

The day wasn’t just about the animals though! The children also worked together in cross-year group activities, sharing ideas, discussing what they’ve learned, and collaborating on their work. It was a brilliant example of teamwork and cross-curricular learning. A huge thank you to the KS1 team who helped make this experience so memorable for the children!

Whole School Assembly on Neurodiversity

This week, we held an important whole-school assembly focusing on neurodiversity. The children learned about what neurodiversity means and why it’s so important to understand and support our friends who may have different learning styles or needs.

We talked about how everyone’s brain works in unique ways, and how we can be more inclusive and supportive of each other in and out of the classroom. It was a wonderful session that helped promote kindness, empathy, and inclusion throughout our school community. Thank you to Mrs. Morris for organising.

Year 6: National Justice Museum Visit

Year 6 had an exciting trip to the National Justice Museum in Nottingham as part of their ‘Who Dunnit?’ topic. They explored crime and punishment across the ages, learning about the history of justice in Britain. The highlight of the visit was the mock trial, where our Year 6 pupils became lawyers, witnesses, and defendants! They put their knowledge to the test and got a real taste of what it’s like to be involved in the justice system.

Science Workshops: Creating Inspiring Scientists

We ended the week with an exciting and inspirational series of science workshops. We welcomed a brilliant visitor to the school who conducted live experiments, sparking the children’s curiosity and awe. Following this, the children had the opportunity to carry out their own experiments in class. We are so excited about continuing to inspire the next generation of scientists here at Stoke and a huge thank you to Miss. Reeves for arranging such a great day!

Reminders

  • Email Updates: The school regularly sends out emails to keep parents informed of important activities, safety information, parents' evenings, and other key events. Unfortunately, our last school-wide email generated over 50 bounce-backs due to invalid email addresses. Please ensure we have an up-to-date email address for you, and that your inbox isn’t full. You can send your current email address to Office@stoke.coventry.sch.uk—please include both your name and your child’s name in the email.

  • Trips Payment: A reminder that we ask for a £30 contribution per child for school trips throughout the year (£15 for those eligible for pupil premium). School trips, including both off-site visits and visitors to the school, are expensive, and without your support, we may not be able to continue offering as many opportunities for our children. If possible, please make the payment in one go or in instalments of £10 per term. Payments can be made via the MyChildAtSchool app.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another week of exciting learning and adventures!
