Being Scientists - Planning a Fair Test

We are learning about forces and friction. We planned a scientific experiment to investigate how well a toy car could travel across different surfaces. We asked if the surface was smooth was there more or less friction? If the surface was bumpy was there more or less friction? How did the amount of friction affect how far the car could travel?

As it was a fair test, we changed the type of surface the toy car was travelling on, but we kept the car the same, the starting point the same, and we pushed it with the same force every time. It was important to keep these things the same.
