Making a shaduf

This week, we have been learning all about settlements in Ancient Egypt. We discovered just how important the River Nile was to daily life, providing water for drinking, farming, and transport. One fascinating invention we explored was the shaduf a tool the Ancient Egyptians used to lift water from the river onto their fields. After learning how it worked, we even had a go at making our own shadufs. It was a fantastic way to see history come to life and to understand how clever the Ancient Egyptians were in using the Nile to help their communities thrive.
