Dear Parents and Carers,

What a wonderful week at Stoke!

Christmas Tree Collection Day

Christmas has officially arrived at Stoke! On Monday, Mr Ascroft, Mrs Fox, Miss Ward, Mr Williams and ten of our superstar children went on a special trip to collect our school Christmas tree. It now stands proudly in our foyer, beautifully decorated and sparkling with festive cheer. The children loved being part of this tradition, and it’s been wonderful to see the excitement building as we head into the festive season.

Year 6 – Shakespeare Performances

A huge well done to our amazing Year 6 pupils, who performed their Shakespeare plays at the Belgrade Theatre on Thursday night. They were absolutely incredible – confident, expressive and full of energy! We are so proud of every single one of them for their dedication, teamwork and courage on stage.

A special thank you goes to the staff team for all their hard work in preparing props, supporting rehearsals, and ensuring the performances were such a success. And of course, thank you to our families for your continued support – it was fantastic to see so many of you there cheering the children on!

Bedtime Story Event

On Wednesday evening, we hosted our second annual Bedtime Story Event, and what a success it was! It was wonderful to see so many children ready to enjoy stories together. Events like this remind us just how magical reading can be – thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a lovely evening.

The Book Fair Has Arrived!

The Book Fair is now open! It will be in the dining room from 3pm–4pm every day until Tuesday 2nd December. There are some fantastic titles on offer – perfect for Christmas gifts or simply for encouraging a love of reading. Come and have a look after school!

Geography Fieldwork – Year 4

This week, Year 4 have been out and about in the local area, carrying out some exciting geography fieldwork. These activities bring geography learning to life, helping children develop their understanding of their local environment and the skills of a real geographer. The children were so enthusiastic and curious – well done, everyone!

BBC Coventry & Warwickshire – School of the Week!

We are thrilled to share that Stoke Primary School has been chosen as BBC Coventry & Warwickshire’s Star School next Friday! The children (and staff!) are so excited to be taking part – it’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all the amazing things happening here at Stoke. Make sure to listen out for us on the radio next week as we share our news, achievements and a little bit of that special Stoke spirit!

Online Safety Update – “Brainrot” (part of Roblox)

We would like to make you aware that a “Shark Brainrot” style song and similar online trends have recently become popular with some children. While many versions appear harmless, some originate from content that is not appropriate for primary-aged pupils and may include unsuitable language or themes.

We kindly ask that you continue to monitor your child’s use of devices, especially when they are watching short-form videos or scrolling through recommended content. Even familiar platforms such as Roblox or YouTube can sometimes lead to inappropriate material very quickly. Thank you for your continued vigilance in keeping our children safe online.

Pupil Premium and Free School Meals

A reminder that families may be eligible for Pupil Premium funding, which provides additional financial support to help enhance learning opportunities and wellbeing across school. Even if your child has packed lunches, registering still benefits the school and our children. If you haven’t already checked your eligibility, please visit: https://www.coventry.gov.uk/benefits-1/free-school-meals/2, or ask at the school office for a form.

Attendance Matters – Everyday Counts!

Good attendance is key to making the most of all the learning and experiences on offer at Stoke. Please help us by ensuring your child is in school, on time, every day.

Illness

We know this time of year often brings lots of seasonal illnesses, and we’re aware that both children and adults have been affected by various bugs recently. Please continue to encourage regular hand washing and use of hand sanitiser to help keep everyone as healthy as possible. Thank you for your support in helping to reduce the spread of illness.
