26th September 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

What another brilliant week!

Harvest Celebration & MacMillan Coffee Afternoon

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today for our Harvest celebration and MacMillan coffee afternoon. It is always so special to bring our school community together, and your generosity and support made the event even more meaningful. The children sang beautifully, and it is lovely to see families, staff, and pupils all gathered to share in the occasion.

Year 6 – Shakespeare Workshop

This week, our Year 6 teachers attended an inspiring Shakespeare workshop in preparation for the upcoming Year 6 Shakespeare performances in November. This event, held at the Belgrade Theatre, is always a highlight of the year and a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to showcase their talents on a professional stage. We can’t wait to see their performances later this term!

Reading at Stoke

Reading is such an important part of learning and growing, and we encourage all children to read as much as possible and to discover books they truly enjoy. We are very fortunate to have some wonderful reading volunteers working with our pupils in school, and we are aiming for every child to read at least four times a week at home and to log this on Boomreader. Thank you for supporting this – it makes such a difference.

A Visit from Emma Lewry

We are delighted to be continuing our work with education consultant Emma Lewry this year. On Thursday, Emma spent the day in school, following on from her recent projects in KS1 and now into KS2. She was incredibly complimentary about the quality of education here at Stoke, particularly noting the passion and thought that go into our learning experiences. She also commented on the wonderful sense of belonging that shines through across the school – something we are all very proud of.

My Happy Mind

Last year, we introduced a program to all year groups at school called myHappymind. myHappymind is based around helping children to understand how their brain works and to support them in developing positive skills and habits to be their best selves.

We really encourage you to make use of this free content and free Parent App, so that you can support your child in getting the best out of the curriculum. Check out the link below for more information to take your straight to the website.

Attendance Matters – Everyday Counts

Good attendance is key to making the most of all the learning and experiences on offer at Stoke. Please help us by ensuring your child is in school, on time, every day. Here are our attendance figures for this week:

Reception 88.1%

Year 1 91.6%

Year 2 95.9%

Year 3 96.3% - well done!

Year 4 95.8%

Year 5 91.5%

Year 6 96.1%

Whole school overall 93%

Our school target is 96%. Let’s keep working together to raise these numbers – every day really does count. If you have any concerns or questions regarding your child’s attendance, please get in touch with us.
