7th March 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a fantastic week it has been at Stoke! From exciting visits to incredible learning opportunities, our pupils have been engaged and inspired in so many ways. Here's a quick roundup of some of the amazing events we've had this week:

A Visit from a Polar Explorer!

This week, Year 6 were thrilled to have a visit from a real-life polar explorer who has completed expeditions to Antarctica. The students were captivated by stories of ice-covered landscapes, frozen seas, and the challenges faced in such extreme environments. They had the chance to ask questions and learn about the explorer’s incredible journey.

STEM Day and Virtual Visit with Tim Peake!

Year 5 took part in an exciting online STEM Day all about space. The highlight of the day was a virtual visit with none other than British astronaut Tim Peake! Our pupils learned about life in space and the science behind space travel. It was an out-of-this-world opportunity for everyone involved!

Twycross Zoo Trip

Year 4 had a fantastic trip to Twycross Zoo to enhance their learning about endangered animals. They had the chance to see some of the species they’ve been studying up close and learn from experts about conservation efforts. It was a fun and educational day, and we hope our pupils are feeling inspired to protect our planet’s wildlife!

Roman Day

Year 3 had an exciting Roman Day, both inside and outside the classroom! They dressed up as Romans and participated in a range of activities that brought ancient history to life. From spending time around a settlement fire, to exploring the daily lives of Romans, Year 3 really embraced the day and had a great time learning about the past.

World Book Day
This week, we also celebrated World Book Day. Our pupils dressed up as ‘words’ for our vocabulary focus. In the afternoon, we spent time in our houses, working together to create beautiful reading displays for the hall. A big congratulations to

Godiva House for winning the competition with their amazing board – it was truly a team effort and a display of great creativity. Thank you to all our pupils for participating and celebrating the magic of books and reading!

Looking Ahead: My Happy Mind Lessons

Starting next week, we will be introducing a new series of lessons called My Happy Mind. These sessions will be at the start of our week. They are short and are designed to help our pupils develop a positive mindset, build resilience, and focus on mental well-being. The program will explore key topics like managing emotions, understanding their brain, and practicing mindfulness. We are excited to see the positive impact it will have on our pupils.

We’ve had such a wonderful week full of learning, exploration, and fun, and we’re looking forward to even more exciting activities ahead. Thank you for your continued support!
