  • 23-24 Trips & Educational Visits

    Tue 03 Oct 2023

    Dear Parents and Carers,

2023/2024 – Trips and Educational Visits

Educational visits and trips are a fantastic way for children to learn. Such experiences contribute to a wider world perspective by broadening their horizons and exposing them to different cultures, environments, and people, whilst stimulating their brains. Trips can make a topic feel new and exciting, bringing subjects to life with hands on learning opportunities.

Examples of educational visits that your child may experience in line with their topics are, Weston Supermere, Natural History Museum, Sea Life Centre, Twycross Zoo, Warwick Castle and many more.

This academic year, we are introducing a new approach to how our parents and carers pay towards their child’s school trips.  The total cost covering all curriculum trips will be £30 per child. This fee includes entry and travel costs for all trips planned for your child’s year group.  For pupil premium children, the fee is reduced to £15 for the year.

You will see an outstanding order balance for the full amount owed for each child, and you can make payments towards this balance, throughout the full year. For example, if you wish to spread the cost, parents can pay £10 per term via the app.

Your balance will be monitored by the office team regularly, so you may receive reminder emails to make a payment towards your balance.

Please note, if your child is currently in year 4 and you have recently paid towards the Twycross Zoo trip, your payment will be automatically taken off your £30 balance for the year.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience whilst we onboard to our new My Child at School app. We hope that this approach to trip payments will be more manageable for all parents and carers.

    Yours sincerely

    Fri 29 Sep 2023

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Thank you

Thank you to all of you who came to our Harvest celebration this week. The children did you proud, singing superbly and enjoying hearing all the performances. Thank you also for the donations which will go the local foodbank.

    Reminders

Staff have a training day on Monday 2nd October so we will be closed to all children.

Thank you for not riding electric scooters on the playground and for ensuring children are able to arrive and leave school safely.

Thanks also for ensuring children are collected by responsible adults and only siblings if they are in year 9 or older.

Please continue to support your children by hearing them read and signing Boom reader four times a week. This makes a huge difference to their progress.

Our next SEND coffee morning is October 25th, please feel free to drop in for a chat.

Have a good and safe weekend. See you on Monday.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

  • Mon 2nd Oct 2023 - Teacher Training Day Reminder

    Fri 29 Sep 2023

Reminder - School is closed on Monday 2nd October 2023 for Teacher Training Day.

  • Drop off and collection

    Thu 28 Apr 2022

Over the Covid period we have been using a drop off and collection system via the pavement rather than the school playground.  This week I have been reviewing the system with a view to how we move forwards.  I will be writing to parents very soon about next steps.

We have needed to maintain the current system as Covid has continued to be a factor in schools, particularly with staff absence.

  • Absence due to Covid symptoms

    Thu 07 Apr 2022

We have received new Government advice for absence recording.  From the beginning of the summer term any absence, including ones due to Covid symptoms, will be treated as an absence from school.  This means that absence due to Covid symptoms will now affect your child's overall attendance.

  • Covid Rules - from 1st April 2022

    Sat 02 Apr 2022

Changes to measures and guidance for managing COVID-19 in education settings from April 1st 2022.

    * adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.

    * children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people.  They can go back to school when they no longer have a high temperature, and when they are well enough to attend.

*adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious.  For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice will be 3 days.

  • Punctuality Push

Tue 08 Mar 2022 Mr Ascroft

This week we are really focussed on ensuring all our children arrive on time.  The week started with Miss Fenlon and Jenni, the Local Authority Attendance Officer, out on the gates on Monday morning speaking with everyone who was late.

Lateness, even by a few minutes harms your child’s education and is also disruptive to those children already in class and working when they arrive.

All classes have morning learning which starts as soon as the children arrive and runs up to the first full lesson of the morning at 9.05am.  During this session the children have a new challenge or revisit the previous days learning to read feedback from their teachers so they can improve.

It is vital that all our children arrive to make the most of these first minutes of the day.

Please support us all by making sure your child is through the gates before 8.55am.

  • Covid Testing

    Mon 17 Jan 2022

Please can all families support regular LFT testing for your children.  We have an increasing group of staff who have tested positive and are continually trying to manage the spread of Covid within our school community.  Regular testing helps this.  Any results should be shared with school using the following email address. covidreporting@stoke.coventry.sch.uk

  • Head Teacher - Covid Information

    Fri 07 Jan 2022

We are really pleased with the first week back the way the children have returned to learning.

We have however had some positive Covid cases in our school community affecting children and staff.

We all have a responsibility to be aware of our health and wellbeing.  If your child has any cough, temperature or aches symptoms we strongly encourage you to do an LFT test with them.  Omicron is also showing a wide range of other symptoms.  If at any point your child says they feel unwell, please also do an LFT test with them.

For the parents of our younger children in nursery and reception please remember your children are less able to tell you how they are feeling.  Please watch them carefully and if you have any concerns please complete an LFT test with them.

Please use covidreporting@stoke.coventry.sch.uk to report an specific Covid related issues you are facing.

As parents please do your bit to help us as a school.  Please make sure you wear a mask at drop off and collection.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

    Yours Sincerely

  • Head Teacher Update

    Fri 19 Nov 2021

It has been another busy few weeks at Stoke.  Thank you to everyone who turned up for our Macmillan Coffee afternoon, we hope the chance to see your children’s classrooms and work was helpful and informative.  Since then we have had so much going on.

Year 3 have visited the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham as part of a project to help re plant our school grounds with new bulbs, shrubs and trees.  Year 4 have visited both the motor Museum and the Herbert Art Gallery to explore how museums work and then transfer this knowledge into creating their own Egypt Museum.

Last week we had a dress up day as we raised money for the Hope Foundation School in Malawi.  This day was started by the work and request of our Year 2 children.  Their hard work and letters enabled us to raise over £500.  Thank you to you all for your support.

This week the children have been exploring kindness as part our Anti Bullying week.   We started by celebrating Anti Bullying Day and wearing odd socks.  Across school we have had PSHE lessons exploring bullying and kindness.  The week has culminated in the school choir singing in assembly today.  They shared a version of Titanium with an anti-bullying message.  The confidence, energy and passion from all members of the choir was amazing.

Our Year 6 children have had a swimming intensive.  Swimming every day for 2 weeks has enabled their confidence to grow and for many they have taken their first strokes unaided.  Well done to each and every Year 6 child.

In amongst all this we have continued with our after-school clubs.  The children are thoroughly enjoying the range on offer from sports; including gymnastics, dance, football and netball, to papercraft and chocolate.  Staff are also enjoying these opportunities to explore different skills and crafts with your children.

Next week we will share with you the key dates in the run up to Christmas so you know what is going on in school.

We are continuing to have issues with car driving at drop off and collection.  Please make sure you respect all our children and their families.  Do not stop in the middle of the road and let your children out. Please park safely and then walk to the gate.  Even better walk from home as the fresh air helps start the day.  We have a bike rack and an area for scooters, so if your child chooses to come by either of these then we can show them where to leave it.

Thank you for your ongoing support.  If you have any questions please contact the school office.
