4th January 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

We hope you have all had a good Christmas and holiday period and that all our children are looking forward to being back at school.

Over the last weeks we have been learning more about Omicron and how it is affecting people.  Currently the biggest risk to school is that staff contract the virus and fall ill.  We will be starting the term with some staff unwell and isolating.  We know that people who have had Covid previously and those who have been vaccinated are able to carry the Omicron virus and transmit it to others.

My last resort is to have close classes or year groups and return to home schooling.  We need the whole school community to work together to help us manage the next weeks and ensure everyone is both safe and getting the education they deserve.

We encourage all children to be LFT tested before returning tomorrow.  This will help us ensure we are not bringing any virus into school.  We also use the email covidreporting@stoke.coventry.sch.uk to inform the school of any covid issues in your immediate families.

We are maintaining the drop off and collections from the pavement as this is the safest for school.  The morning routine runs well as people arrive at different times and drop their children through the gates.  The afternoon collection is harder as classes come out as a group.  We need your continued support at this time by making sure only one adult comes to the gate to collect a child and that you stand back from the gates so that staff can see who is there.  They will release your children as quickly as possible.

Reception parents will still go through the side gate and wait by the inside gate.  Please make sure it is only one parent who goes through and whilst waiting please make sure you give other parents space

Please can you all wear masks at both drop off and collection.  Staff will also be wearing masks at these times.

If you think your child is unwell and has any of the covid symptoms please ensure you use LFT tests or try and get a PCR.  The current isolation guidance is that following a positive test you isolate for 7 days and then have 2 negative LFT tests after this before you return.

If you need to speak to the school office please wait by the doors and only enter the reception area once the previous people have left.  There must only one person by the office at any one time.

I appreciate still having rules and systems such as these can be frustrating.  However we need them to ensue that we are able to run school for all our children whilst keeping everyone including staff safe.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours Sincerely
