21st October 2022

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe we are at the end of the first half term!  All the children have settled well, coming in smiling and being busy learning in the classroom.  We are really pleased how well the children are engaging with the classroom and exploring the resources.  We are so proud of the progress they have made in such a short time.

Rules and Routines

We have had a strong focus on establishing class expectations for behaviour and learning with a strong emphasis on praise and rewarding good choices.  The children are learning about the school values and success is shared with the class.

Our Next Topic

Our next topic is going to be all about Woodland Creatures. Learning about hibernation and exploring the natural world.  Children will have the opportunity for regular forest school activities, using senses to explore.  Over the half term break it would be great if you could visit a park or woodland area, collect leaves, sticks, conkers, acorns and bring them into school to explore with the class.

Developing Independence

Please encourage your child to learn to dress themselves.  This should include putting shoes on and doing coats up.  Children need patience and praise to learn, break things down into simple steps for them to achieve.  Being independent increases your child’s self esteem and develops a ‘can do’ attitude.

Also please label clothing, jumpers, cardigans, coats, shoes etc.  This will support them in finding their own clothing.
