Dear Parents and Carers

As we find ourselves back in a lockdown situation, we wanted to write to you to let you know how things will work this time.  Some of your children will have been invited to attend school either because you are a key worker or because the children meet our school criteria.  You will already be aware of this so if you haven’t heard, your child will be expected to remain at home with a provision of home schooling provided by us and supervised by you.  There is an expectation that learning continues and you will be receiving resource packs and/or  information via the website to enable you to support your child with this learning.  It is absolutely vital that children engage with this learning and we will be contacting those who do not.

Firstly there is a resource pack available to be collected from school which can be collected once you have heard from the school office.  This contains work for this week and complements work available on the website from Thursday.

If you need an exercise book, pencils, Maths resources, felt pens, coloured paper, please ask at the office who will be able to give this to you.

From Thursday onwards there will be a daily pre-recorded video, power point or other resource available online with instructions for the work to be completed.  Please go to the class pages, Year 2 and then find the relevant week (this week is week commencing Wednesday 6^th January).  There will be daily work when you click on each of the swirls.  Phonics can be found in the reading swirl.  This completed work should be photographed and emailed to:  Year2-HomeSchooling@stoke.coventry.sch.uk.  Your child will receive feedback from the work emailed.

Your child can also contact us via email through Purple Mash – we have included instructions for sending and replying to emails this way in the resource pack.

We will continue to hear your child read – this will be done via Zoom and the passcode is included on the front of your resource pack.  Class teachers will be calling you and the children over the next couple of days and can explain about zoom, how the reading sessions will work and answer any further questions you may have about the contents of this letter.

From next week we will be offering the children a dedicated zoom hour where their teacher will be available to meet the children ‘face to face’.  More details about this will follow but it will give your children access to a teacher live should they have any questions regarding their learning.

We are sorry that swimming has been postponed.  However, the Year 2 children will begin their swimming lessons as soon as they return to school.  Any monies already paid will be carried forward.

We appreciate that this is a lot of information and we will be calling you to answer any questions before the end of the week.  However, if there are urgent questions, please contact us at the home schooling email address above.
