10th October 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back!

We have had a great first week back after the half term break. The children were excited and enthusiastic to be back at school ready to learn more and more.

Year 6 children (and staff!) are working hard on their Shakespeare plays soon to be performed at the Belgrade theatre. We cannot wait to see their performances!

Year 3 had an amazing day yesterday at the Natural History Museum in London, where their classes were learning about volcanoes, earthquakes, rocks and fossils which immediately came to life and encouraged curiosity for their topic ahead. Thank you to all the staff – it was a very long day but they all reported how amazing your children were.

Let’s all Persevere

This half term, we are driving the quality of perseverance. We celebrated 2 children from each class this morning who were awarded certificates in assembly. We also celebrated children who have especially shone at demonstrating our STOKE values.

Remembrance Day

We spent some time in assembly reflecting on the sacrifices made during previous and current wars and conflicts and discussed the emotions experienced by so many around the world. We have been thinking about how a solution focused, kind and empathetic approach to conflict and decision-making supports democracy in our lives.

Reminders

  1. Thank you for not riding electric scooters on the playground and for ensuring children are able to arrive and leave school safely. Thanks also for ensuring children are collected by responsible adults and only siblings if they are in year 9 or older.
  2. Please continue to support your children by hearing them read and signing Boom reader four times a week. This makes a huge difference to their progress
  3. Our next SEND coffee morning is Wednesday 6th December, please feel free to drop in for a chat.
  4. Previously worn uniform is available on Thursdays from 3pm ask at the main office. Do pop along.
  5. Please if you haven't done so already can you complete the Flu applications forms that were sent via email to parents.  If you are having problems please come to the school office and you can scan the app at the office.

Wishing you and your children a happy and safe weekend.  Thank you for your ongoing support.

Kind regards
