Art

Our art curriculum provides children with the opportunity to explore their ideas by experimenting, inventing and creating their own works of art. At Stoke, we believe that art is an integral part of a child's education and contributes to their personal development in creativity, independence, evaluation and self-reflection. Children learn the skills of drawing, painting, collage, textiles, sculpture and digital art, and are encouraged to explore and evaluate different creative ideas. Moreover, children are inspired through the learning of key artists and techniques, allowing them to then become independent artists in the choices they have made.

The keys aims of our art curriculum are:

  • To engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, ivent and create
  • For children to become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art techniques
  • To analyse and evaluate creative works
  • To know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms
