Year 2

Kingfisher Class

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I am Miss Burns and I will be your child’s new class teacher in September. We will be the Kingfisher class. I am very excited for the year ahead and the journey we will be on together.

As you are aware, I have had the chance to get to know the class this week during Transition Week. During the week, we have spent the time getting to know each other, setting the expectations for the year and finding out what we are going to be learning about in Year 2. I hope the children have shared some of what they have been doing with you over the week. We will continue to build on this in the first two weeks back in September.

Our first curriculum topic next year will be ‘All About Me’ so we kindly ask that you find baby/toddler photos of the children so we can see how much they have grown and changed over the years. They can bring these to school in September to share with each other.

In preparation for September, please ensure your child has a named bottle filled with water. It is also important that all their uniform is named. Please also ensure that your child has a PE kit in school. This should include blue or black shorts, jogging bottoms or leggings, their team-coloured top, and a change of shoes (pumps or trainers.)

If you have any questions or concerns about next year, please don’t hesitate to come and speak to me. I am currently teaching in Year 4 if you do wish to speak to me.

I want to wish you a safe and enjoyable summer and I cannot wait for September.

Miss Burns
