Dear Parents and Carers,

Re: National Teachers Strikes

Following my letter last week here is an update regarding the planned strike action for schools.  You will have heard by now that the NEU (Teachers ‘Union) has declared several days of strike action. The strike action and reasons behind it can be found on various websites. The strike is NOT because of any school issues but is a national response. The planned strike days are:

  • Wednesday 1st February
  • Wednesday 1st March
  • Wednesday 15th March
  • Thursday 16th March

I am getting in touch to give you advance notice of these dates as we have many teachers who may be involved in the action but are not required legally to let the school know in advance of their intentions.  It is looking likely that school will be closed for Reception, Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 so we recommend that you make alternative childcare arrangements for these dates.  Nursery will remain open.

Children who are entitled to free school meals will be provided with a packed lunch the day before to bring home to have for their dinner whilst school is closed.

We are working closely with the LA and school representatives and will keep you up to date of any changes via the website:

                      www.stoke.coventry.sch.uk

I understand the situation may be frustrating but ask that you treat all the members of the school community with respect.

Thanks for your ongoing support.
