Developing Social and Emotional Skills

How do you feel today?  Make sure you are starting the day with some motivation.  Do some positive things that will get you motivated.  Talk to your child about these tasks as you do them together

  • Open the curtains and look out the window, what can you see?
  • (adult) Open the window, together take some deep breaths of the fresh air.
  • Get dressed, encourage your child to choose something they would like to wear, that makes them happy.
  • Go for a walk together, focus on what you can see out and about and take turns spotting things.

When you get back talk about how you feel after getting out for a walk, choose a task to do together, such as a jigsaw or game.

Wednesday- No Technology Day

We hope you enjoy having a break from technology today.  Our suggested activity today is linked to all areas of learning...

Bake something...

Use a simple cake or biscuit recipe to do some baking or if not make a fruit salad.  Talk through your ingredients, what you need and what equipment you need.  Talk through the process of what they need to do and encourage your child to join in.

Joining in with measuring, cutting, stirring all support physical and mathematical development.  Accomplishing creating something out of simple ingredients supports their emotional development.
