Message from Mr Bennett 5.4.20

Hey guys, Mr Bennett here.

Wow! Week 3 of school closure. It's weird not seeing you. I miss you all and I miss teaching you.

By now, the novelty of being away from school may be wearing off. You may well be finding that you are bored and are missing school, a daily routine and seeing your class mates. All of that is perfectly normal.

In the last two weeks, I have completed your Reading, Writing and Maths assessments (it was lovely to read your Egyptian stories again 😀) and have been at the Stoke Shutdown School. It was strange being at the school with it being so quiet.

This week, I will be carrying on with the work Mr Ascroft has given us. When I am not working, I go for a walk around my local park, clean the house, relax with a cup of tea, read a book, listen to music and do Happy Clappy, watch some TV or a movie or play some computer games.

I can not stress the importance of having some sort of routine. Remember, you should be reading and practising your spellings and times tables everyday, they aren't just something you do once and say that that part of your home learning pack is done.  If I were you I would:

Start my day with the Joe Wicks workout, or Just Dance or cosmic yoga or even go outside for a walk.

I would then do some maths using... https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/

I would then find a nice, quiet place and read. I can not stress this enough...read! Read, read,
read, read, read! Read...lots! I’m sure you have, or should have, finished the books you took home, so, to help with this, Oxford Owl are providing free access to ALL of their E-books. That’s a lot of books! You just need to register for free...

I would then have a break. Switch off. Watch some TV, play on your iPad, go outside, have a drink and have your lunch.

I would then practise my spellings and do one of the reading/writing tasks in your home learning book or one of the writing tasks in the ‘Home learning links and ideas’ section. Maybe you could watch one of these videos and do one of the writing tasks... https://www.literacyshedplus.com/en-gb/browse/age-7-9/7---9-film-units

I would then read some more or do a creative task e.g. paint, draw, colour or make something.

I’m not saying you have to do things in this order but give your day some structure. Believe me, it will help.

If you have your PurpleMash logins you can always email me or each other or challenge me on TTRS, I am checking them everyday.

You can always send a photo in to the school Facebook page so you can show me what you have been up to.

More things have been added into the 'Home Learning Links & Ideas' section. If you like Harry Potter, this website has all sorts of activities you can do...

If you are missing Happy Clappy or Just Dance, why not give it a go? Just because we aren’t together, doesn’t mean you can’t do it. I have been 😀
The songs are:
Culture Beat - Mr Vain
Haddaway - Life
Calvin Harris - Let’s Go

I will post another message at the end of the week.

Stay positive, stay safe, look after yourselves and each other.

Make your move and say YES!

Mr Bennett
