Dear Parents / Carers and Children

We are so excited to be welcoming you all back to school on Wednesday (September 2nd) and have been busy making all the final preparations for the start of the new school year.  We have lots of exciting learning planned for the children whilst following the guidelines to ensure that we are all as safe as we can be.

Class staff will be out to collect the children from the parents at the main playground gate between 8:45am and 8:55am.  If you have any questions or queries, please speak to one of the senior leaders or learning mentors who will be on the gate at the start and end of the day.  They will answer your query or ask the teacher to contact you through the school day if necessary.

At the end of the day, class staff will bring the children to you at the same school gate.  The children’s safety is our priority so seeing them out may take us a little longer while we are getting to know you and your children.  There will be a lot of parents waiting for children so please ensure that you adhere to social distancing and that you move away quickly once you have collected your child/children to allow all of the children / staff to be able to spot their adults.

We will be sending reading books home again as quickly as we are able to do so.  These must be brought into school each day so that children can read to staff in school.  Please read regularly with your child.  It is really important that we get back on track with learning and progress as quickly as possible so it is, now more than ever, vitally important that you support your child by hearing them read every day if possible but at least three times a week.  Please ensure that any reading books which were sent home before lockdown are returned promptly at the start of term.

Children should only bring reading books, a named water bottle and a packed lunch (if they have one) to school.  Normal packed lunch boxes are ok to bring as are refillable water bottles.  These will be sent home each day and must be cleaned thoroughly at home.  Children should also wear their school uniform and bring a named PE kit which can be stored in school for the half term.  Please do not send them with other items.

We are looking forward to another great year at Stoke and to working with all of our wonderful Stoke families.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Brooker (KS1 Phase Leader) and the KS1 team.
