Dear Parents / Carers and Children
We are so excited to be welcoming you to Stoke Primary School on Wednesday 2nd September, and are busy making all the final preparations for the start of the new school year. We have lots of exciting learning planned for the Reception children whilst following the government guidelines.
On Wednesday please bring your Reception child to the top gate (gate to main office and small car park) between 8:45 am and 8:55 am. Staff will then collect your child from you at this gate, and escort them to the Reception area for hand washing and to start their day. If you have any questions there will be a nominated member of staff who will be on the gate at the start and end of the day that can help you or ask the teacher to contact you through the school day.
At the end of the day staff will bring your child to you at the same school gate. The children’s safety is our priority; so seeing them out may take us a little longer while we are getting to know you and your child. There will be a lot of parents waiting for their children, so please ensure that you adhere to social distancing and that you move away quickly once you have collected your child/children to allow all of the children and staff to be able to spot their adults.
We will be sending reading books home for you to read with your child every day. These must be brought back into school each day so that children can read to staff in school. Please read every day with your child and record this in their diary. It is really important that we get back on track with learning and progress as quickly as possible so it is, now more than ever, vitally important that you support your child by hearing them read every day. School staff will not be writing in your child’s diary but will keep their own records in school. Staff will be hearing your child read and change their reading book on a regular basis.
Your child should only bring into school their reading book, reading diary and a packed lunch (if they are not having a school dinner) to school. Children are expected to wear their school uniform, and to bring a named PE kit on Wednesday that will be stored in school for the half term. Please do not send your child with any other items.
We are all looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday 2nd September.
Mrs Fletcher (Reception Phase Leader) and the Reception Staff.
